Guan Chong: TCM Acupoint Guide

Name
Guan Chong (Guanchong)
Location
On the ulnar side of the ring finger, approximately 0.1 cun posterior to the corner of the nail, at the junction of the lines drawn along the ulnar border of the nail and the base of the nail.
Needling
- Perpendicular or oblique insertion directed proximally, 0.1 to 0.2 cun, or prick to bleed.
- Straight insertion, 0.1 to 0.3 cun, or prick to bleed.
- Puncture superficially 0.1 cun, or prick with a three-edged needle to cause bleeding.
- Bleed to clear Heat from the eyes, head and throat.
- Moxibustion is applicable.

Notes
Has a special effect on the flesh over the eyes. Deals with regulation of Heat, and is used mostly in Exterior patterns of extreme Wind-Heat. A resuscitation point. This is the gate of entry: if this gate is closed the San Jiao will fail and all of the organs will fail.
