Ingredients

  • Yin Hua (Flos Lonicerae) 90 g
  • Dang Gui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) 60 g
  • Di Yu (Radix Sanguisorbae) 30 g
  • Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Radix) 30 g
  • Yuan Shen (Radix Scrophulariae) 30 g
  • Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) 10 g
  • Yi Ren (Coicis Semen) 15 g
  • Huang Qin (Radix Scutellariae) 6 g

Explanation

  • Jin Yin Hua and Huang Qin clear heat and remove toxicity.
  • Dang Gui nourishes and activates the blood.
  • Di Yu cools the blood to stop bleeding, relieves toxicity and heals wounds.
  • Mai Dong nourishes the yin of the Stomach, Lung and Heart, and clears heat from the same three organs.
  • Yuan Shen clears heat and cools the blood, removes toxicity and nourishes yin.
  • Yi Ren removes dampness, strengthens the Spleen and clears heat.
  • Zhi Gan Cao invigorates the Spleen and Stomach and tempers the actions of all the other ingredients.

Nature and action

Activates the blood and removes toxicity, nourishes yin and purges fire.

Indications

Acute appendicitis.

Dose

Decocted in water and taken by mouth in two divided doses.
