Qu Quan (Ququan)
Location
Just superior to the medial end of the popliteal crease, in the depression anterior to the tendons of the semitendinosus and semimembranosus, about 1 cun anterior to KI-10 Yingu. Note: flex the knee to identify the crease and the tendons; the semitendinosus, which lies posteriorly, is the more prominent of the two.
Needling
- Straight insertion, 1 to 1.5 cun. Sensation: local distention and soreness.
- Perpendicular or slightly posterior insertion, 1 to 1.5 cun.
- Puncture perpendicularly, 0.5 to 0.8 cun.
- Moxibustion is applicable.

Notes
Acts mainly on the genitals and lower abdomen. Its main function is to eliminate Damp-Heat from the Lower Jiao, and it is effective for both Damp-Heat and Cold-Damp.
