Zhou Liao (Zhouliao)
Location
With the elbow flexed, in the depression 1 cun proximal to the end and 1 cun lateral to LI-11 Quchi, at the margin of the humerus.
Needling
- Slanted insertion, along the anterior margin of the humerus, 1 to 1.5 cun. Sensation: local distention and soreness.
- Perpendicular insertion, 0.5 to 1 cun.
- Puncture perpendicularly, 0.5 to 1 cun.
- Moxibustion is applicable.

- Activates the channel
- Alleviates pain
- Benefits the elbow joint
Indications
- Pain at the elbow and arm
- Inflammation of the epicondyle of the humerus
- Wind-taxation with somnolence
- Pain and stiffness of the elbow
- Bi syndrome of the arm
- Insensitivity and rheumatism of elbow
- Paralysis of the upper extremities
- Spasm or numbness of the arm
- Lassitude
- Numbness and immobility of the upper arm
- Inflammation of the lateral epicondyle of the humerus
- Pain in the arm which cannot be raised or bent
Notes
This is a very useful point to treat tennis elbow when pain radiates upwards towards the shoulder.
