A short page on purpose: the questions people actually type about lavender, answered without padding. Follow the links for the long versions.

What does TCM use lavender for?

Classically, it soothes liver qi constraint behind irritability and insomnia.

Does it actually work?

The strongest studies touch on this: it’s unclear whether aromatherapy with lavender oil has benefits for anxiety, stress, symptoms of depression, some types of pain, sleep quality or insomnia, or other conditions.

How do I take it at home?

A few buds in the evening tea, or a sachet by the pillow.

Who should not take it?

In traditional terms: light use only in pregnancy. In modern terms: pregnant or nursing women, anyone on regular medication, and people with chronic conditions should ask a professional first.

Is it safe long-term?

On safety: it is likely safe to consume lavender in the amounts typically used in foods.

Long-term continuous use of any concentrated herb is a question for a practitioner, not a label. Food-level tea is a different, gentler story.

Start low, watch how your body responds, and give it a fair run of a few weeks before judging. If something feels wrong, stop; that feedback matters more than any article.
